Fabulous meal at The Dores Inn

For a wonderful setting and a superb meal at a reasonable price, take the beautiful 30 minute drive from The Abbey at Fort Augustus along Loch Ness to the pretty village of Dores.

Receiving excellent food and service followed by a gentle stroll along the loch-side beach. Lovely evening out!

Walk the Old Military Road in Fort Augustus

This walk starts at Jenkins Park and climbs up through silver birch and pine woodland via a number of wide zig zags. As the path levels off there are good views down over Fort Augustus, the Caledonian Canal and the hills south of Loch Ness. A super circular walk taking approx. 2 hours.

Relaxing by the Caledonian Canal in Fort Augustus

After a very cold winter, it was lovely to see people relaxing by the canal (with a drink in hand) watching the boats negotiate the succession of locks on the Caledonian Canal. With a spectacular view down Loch Ness it really is one of the prettiest places to be.
