Trip to Fort William

It's a beautiful drive to Fort William, especially in todays sunshine driving past stunning Loch Linnhe .

Fort William is about a 45minute drive from the Aonach Mor Apartments and we chose to go for a game of ten pin bowling at the Nevis Centre. There is also a great soft play area here for younger children with slides a bouncy castle and an overhead trail.

The day finished off with tea and cakes and a mooch around the outdoor clothing shops.

Visit Loch Coruisk

A fabulous sunny day on our trip to the Isle of Skye. One of the prettiest drives in Scotland and just 1 hour 20 mins to the Skye bridge from The Abbey in Fort Augustus.

Climbing aboard the Bella Jane you are welcomed by friendly and informative staff. The boat transports you to the isolated Loch Coruisk in the heart of the stunning Cullin Mountains. A 45 minute boat trip with breathtaking scenery and wildlife. We saw some guillemots & some seals basking in the sun.

We had an unhurried 1.5 hours at the Loch, enough time for a stroll and a picnic to the wonderful sound of the cuckoo. On the return boat trip I would definitely recommend the hot chocolate!

A wonderful day out. Why not try it!

Walk the Old Military Road in Fort Augustus

This walk starts at Jenkins Park and climbs up through silver birch and pine woodland via a number of wide zig zags. As the path levels off there are good views down over Fort Augustus, the Caledonian Canal and the hills south of Loch Ness. A super circular walk taking approx. 2 hours.
